Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Friday evening walked out of the Tihar Jail hours after a city court granted him bail in an excise policy linked to money laundering scam. The leader met his party colleagues including Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, who received him with a hug as soon as he stepped out of the jail premises. Hundreds of AAP workers and supporters gathered outside the jail to celebrate the release of the former health minister, who was in jail for about two years, with chants of Inquilab zindabad, Kejriwal zindabad and Satyendra Jain zindabad. In his first reaction after stepping out of jail, Jain alleged that he was arrested to stall the AAP governments projects such as Mohalla Clinics and Yamuna river cleaning. He claimed that AAP leaders like him, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were arrested to dissuade common people from joining politics in the country. "We will continue our fight against injustice and work for the common man," Jain told a crowd of AAP leaders and workers outside the Tihar jail after his release. He charged that his arrest was part of an attempt to defame Kejriwal who is working hard to ensure the government works for common man and not for a few chosen ones. Sisodia, while welcoming his party colleague, called Jain a hero and said, "Our hero has returned. Satyendar Jain, who used to think about Delhi hospital and mohalla clinics day and night, has returned." The release also brought Diwali early for his family. "Its like Diwali has come early for us," his daughter said, reflecting the relief and happiness at the end of her fathers legal battle, at least for now. His wife expressed joy over the release and said that she has been waiting for this moment for a long time. Satyender is not a politician, he is a social worker, and he will continue to contribute to society," Jains wife said. "It has been tough for us, but I knew Satyender had done nothing wrong. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by us in this difficult time," she added.           Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva called the celebration by AAP regrettable. It is regrettable that despite the Supreme Courts observations, the AAP celebrates every leaders bail as a victory, he said. He called bail a part of the judicial process and not a guarantee of acquittal. This is evident in the cases of former Bihar and Jharkhand Chief Ministers Lalu Yadav and Madhu Koda, he claimed. Sachdeva questioned the AAP and asked, If bail signifies the triumph of truth, why did Kejriwal resign after getting bail and why Sisodia was not reinstated as Deputy Chief Minister? Sachdeva was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on May 30, 2022, on the charge of laundering money through four companies allegedly linked to him. Earlier in the day, the Rouse Avenue court here granted bail to Jail, citing "delay in trial" and his "long incarceration". The AAP hailed the court verdict, describing it as a victory of truth and the defeat of another BJP "conspiracy".
